NOTIFICATION

SO(ACAD-I)1-31/2025. In view of the severe weather conditions expected in the province of Punjab, a meeting was conducted under the chairmanship of the Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat today, with meteorology experts and relevant officials, to assess the situation and provide guidance for schools reopening across Punjab.

In light of the deliberations during the meeting and to ensure the safety and well-being of students and staff, it has been decided that the winter vacation for all schools (Public & Private) in Punjab is extended from 10th January 2026 (Saturday) to 17th January 2026 (Saturday). Accordingly, all schools (Public & Private) will reopen on 19th January 2026 (Monday).

2. All Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) of District Education Authorities (DEAS) throughout Punjab, shall ensure strict compliance accordingly. Any institute failing to follow these instructions will be subject to strict administrative action.

In view of the prolonged cold wave and extremely low temperatures next week,
on the recommendation of
PDMA,
Punjab Government has decided to
extend the winter vacations till January 19.

All parents, students and teachers are requested to wait for the notification and implement this decision.

In continuation of this department’s earlier notification dated 22nd December, 2025, it is hereby notified that due to severe weather conditions prevailing in Punjab, the Winter Vacations for all Higher Education Institutions (Public & Private) under the jurisdiction of the Higher Education Department have been extended from 10th January, 2026 to 16th January, 2026.

2. All colleges (public and private) shall re-open on Monday 19th January, 2026 resuming full/normal week for all classes.
3. BS 4-Year Programs, however, shall continue to function. Furthermore, all examinations shall be held as per the notified schedules of Boards and Universities.
